Bolton Wanderers: A History of the Club's Logo

Early Years (1874-1929)

In the early years of Bolton Wanderers Football Club, there was no official logo or crest. The club simply used the town's coat of arms on its shirts and other merchandise.

Crest Introduction (1929-1958)

In 1929, Bolton Wanderers introduced its first official logo. The crest featured a shield with the town's coat of arms on a white background. The shield was flanked by two lions and surmounted by a scroll bearing the club's motto, "Superba Veritas" (Truth Prevails).

Logo Evolution (1958-Present)

The club's logo has undergone several changes over the years. In 1958, the shield was replaced by a roundel. The roundel featured the town's coat of arms on a blue background. In 1975, the roundel was replaced by a shield-shaped crest. The crest featured the club's initials, "BWFC," on a white background. The crest was flanked by two lions and surmounted by a scroll bearing the club's motto.

The club's current logo was introduced in 1999. The logo features a shield-shaped crest with the town's coat of arms on a white background. The crest is flanked by two lions and surmounted by a scroll bearing the club's motto. The logo is also surrounded by a ring of blue and white stripes.
