The Film
Sorcerer, a 1977 remake of the French film The Wages of Fear, is a crime thriller directed by William Friedkin. The film stars Roy Scheider, Bruno Cremer, Francisco Rabal, Amidou, and Ramon Bieri. The film follows four men who are recruited to transport a load of nitroglycerin across the treacherous Amazon rainforest.
Sorcerer is a well-crafted film with strong performances from the cast. Scheider is particularly good as the lead character, Jackie Scanlon. The film's action sequences are also well-done, and they create a real sense of suspense and danger. However, the film's pacing is a bit slow at times, and the ending is somewhat anticlimactic.
The Blu-ray Release
The Blu-ray release of Sorcerer is a disappointment. The transfer is not as sharp as it could be, and the colors are somewhat muted. The audio is also not as good as it could be, and it lacks the dynamic range of the original theatrical release. The Blu-ray release also includes a number of special features, but they are not particularly interesting or informative.
